Our Current Hounds are ....

Phoebe (Marksbury Stubborn at Cilgwri)
And Phoebe's sister Grace (Marksbury Startle at Cilgwri). In this picture Grace is pregnant with her June 2005 litter.
Phoebe's daughter - Chrissie (Cilgwri Unrepentant) (One of the 'trialling group' - who together with Phoebe's other children helped us to be the 2004 and 2006 Working Trials Top Breeder.
Grace's daughter - Ellie-May (Cilgwri Lady Elinor) Now Ellie is a big disappointment - after gaining her trialing permit with ease, she decided to run back to the car on her first line and has never trialed again. Then the early promise she showed in the show ring disintegrated when she became nervous of men and of inside show venues. She is without doubt the biggest scaredy cat bloodhound ever. But on top of this she also wants to be top hound at home but - at least up to now her mother and auntie are keeping her firmly in her place as the 'baby'. Mind you we love her to pieces she is really really pretty and loves being babied.
And Graces latest children born on 23rd June 2005 and our great hopes for the future. There is a lot of information in the 'Litters' section of the site about this litter.
Hedge (Cilgwri Brightest Star) named after his habit as a young 4 week old puppy of hiding in the hedge everytime he and his brothers and sisters were released into the garden. He is a lovely boy very laid back and amazingly obedient for a bloodhound puppy - but perhaps he is trying to get us to have a false sense of security - time will tell - at the moment he is my pride and joy...
Strudel (Cilgwri Star Shine) the most appropriate name bearing in mind that her dad is Austrian and we travelled there twice for the matings. She is the trouble maker in the family - if something has gone missing or there are fresh tooth marks we can guess who it is... but she is such a pretty girl... roll on show time.(And if Hedge is my pride and joy Strudel is Eileen's...

Ben - an honorary Bloodhound - although he probably wouldn't thank you for that as he has disliked then since one first fell on his head (Duffle) when he was just 6 weeks) old. Now at 15 Ben is the old man of the family and enjoys nothing better that a rather 'toothless' growl at his oppressors, although when our back is turned he has been seen rolling around the garden with them even at his advanced years.

UPDATE - Unfortuatelty we lost Ben on 4th January 2008 aged 16.5. I have decided to kept his picture on the site as he was the only one besides Eileen and myself to know every single one of our other dogs.

And in addition to these 7 we also 'have' a large number of other hounds - well the truth is that when you buy a Cilgwri Puppy (after a more intensive vetting than performed by the SAS) you get far more - you get us as "in-laws" ....Forever!!! - so we still think of the following as belonging to us and are simply on temporary 'respite care' with their new owners (All of whom are actually wonderful ....but don't tell them that!)
